INWOOD— Inwood might be covered in snow, but one local Little League is already planning for spring.

Inwood-Manhattan Little League will take its show on the road for the first time when it returns in April for its 64th season. The league is introducing travel teams for kids age 9 to 16, giving uptown children the chance to take their talents to tournaments all over the East Coast.

League vice president Alex Martinez said the group is looking to add at least four travel teams, broken into groups for children age 9 to 10, 11 to 12, 13 to 14, and 15 to 16. While details are still being finalized, the teams will potentially play tournaments in North Carolina and Virginia, he said.

"We're really excited about the travel teams," Martinez said. "We're going to really do them strongly this year."

Renovations to Field 6 in the league's Inwood Hill Park home will also be new for the spring season.

More than 450 children participated in the Little League games last spring, when a T-ball league for kids age 4 to 5 launched.

The league's spring season will begin with its annual parade up Broadway from Dyckman Street to West 218th Street on Saturday, April 5.

Inwood Little League is open to children age 4 to 18. Registration fees range from $140 to $180, based on age. Interested parents can sign up online or at the league's 647 West 207th St. office on Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit www.inwoodbaseball.org.
