PARK SLOPE — A Turkish wine bar inspired by a French novelist has opened its doors in Park Slope.

Pierre Loti, the wine bar that has locations in Chelsea, Midtown and Union Square, opened its first Brooklyn outpost this week at 78 Fifth Ave., between St. Marks Avenue and Prospect Place.

Pierre Loti started out serving small plates and has since expanded to full-size entrees. The Mediterranean-inspired menu includes wine and cheese pairings, as well as hot and cold tapas such as labne and grilled octopus. Main dishes include grilled quail, veal sausage and Turkish beef dumplings with yogurt sauce.

The Park Slope location will be open for dinner and weekend brunch.

The wine list includes 200 wines by the bottle and 30 by the glass. There's also a cocktail menu with drinks such as the "Evergreen," with rye, green chartreuse, lime and ginger.

Pierre Loti was the pen name of Louis-Marie-Julien Viaud, a French novelist who traveled extensively in Turkey. He spent so much time there that a section of Istanbul is named after him.

Co-owner Orhan Cakir said Park Slope is similar to his native Istanbul, and he's confident the neighborhood will embrace the bar and restaurant.

“It really reminds me of my hometown in Istanbul with its strong sense of community," Cakir said in a statement. "My favorite aspect of running the Manhattan restaurants is watching them turn into neighborhood spots, and I truly believe that this will happen in Park Slope."

Cakir told DNAinfo New York last year that he originally planned to expand his wine bar empire to Hell's Kitchen, but switched to Brooklyn because he fell in love with Park Slope when he made his first-ever trip there after 16 years living in New York.

Other recent comings and goings on the local restaurant and retail scene include the following:

• A wine and spirits shop is moving into the space once occupied by the boutique Lucia at 272 Fifth Ave., near Garfield Place, Here's Park Slope reported.

• The owners of Prospect Heights' Milk Bar are opening a new cafe called Brunswick at 240 Prospect Park West in Windsor Terrace, South Slope News reported. It will serve breakfast and lunch seven days a week.

• The new bakery Buttermilk Bakeshop appears to be opening soon — the awning and front window sign were recently unveiled at 339 Seventh Ave. near Ninth Street.

• The new taco restaurant replacing Fort Reno BBQ at 669 Union St. and Fourth Avenue has announced its name — Taco Santo — and a Feb. 1 opening date.

• A Dunkin' Donuts opened at 250 Prospect Park West. The doughnut shop is one of the few national chains in Windsor Terrace, where the main drag is still filled mostly with mom-and-pop stores.
