MIDTOWN — The glass cube atop Apple's Fifth Avenue store looked like a busted iPhone Wednesday morning.
Staff cordoned off the area behind the entrance while waiting for one of the glass panels, which was veined with snaking cracks, to be repaired.
The flagship store is located across from Central Park, which was hit with 11 inches of snow Tuesday into early Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
One Apple employee told DNAinfo New York the panel shattered after a snowblower struck it on Tuesday.
The damage could cost about $450,000 to fix, according to 9to5mac.com.
"It's kind of ironic," quipped Marvin Washington, 53, of Midtown as he passed by. "Everyone drops their phones and the screens break. Now, it's happened to them."
"It looks kind of cool," added Griffin Stewart, 30, a web designer from Williamsburg. "If they did the rest (of the cube) like that, it would look pretty neat."
The store got a $6.7 million facelift in 2011, which reduced the number of glass panels from 90 to 15.
A spokeswoman for Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
