MIDTOWN — A new deal is lighting up off-Broadway theaters.

Starting Tuesday, theater lovers can save money on dozens of off-Broadway shows thanks to 20at20, which lets audiences grab $20 tickets to 48 shows just 20 minutes before the curtain goes up.

The plays and musicals offering the discount include favorites like "Avenue Q" and "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe," family-friendly shows like the "Berenstain Bears Live!" and adult shows like "Cuff Me: The Fifty Shades of Grey Musical Parody."

"Just show up 20 minutes before curtain to purchase $20 tickets at the box office for participating shows," said Peter Breger, chairman of the Off-Broadway Alliance, in a statement. "Here's your chance to catch up with shows you may have missed, get a sneak peek at the newest hits, or revisit a favorite show  — all for just 20 bucks."

Now in its eighth year, 20at20 is offering off-Broadway fans even more incentive to binge on plays. If a theater-goer sees seven shows, the Off-Broadway Alliance will give them a voucher for dinner for two at one of nine local restaurants, including Havana Central and Mercadito.

Tickets are subject to availability and each person can only purchase one ticket, so theater-goers should be ready to show up as a group and possibly sit apart from one another.

The 20at20 promotion lasts until Feb. 9. Full show listings are available on the 20at20 website
