Woman Fends Off Would-Be Rapist in East Harlem, Police Say

MANHATTAN — A woman fought off a man who tried to rape her in an East Harlem residential building Sunday morning, the NYPD said.

The 34-year-old woman, whose identity was not released, was inside the building when a man shoved her to the ground and tried to rape her about 3:30 a.m., police said.

She screamed and the attacker ran away, the NYPD said.

The woman was not injured, police said.

Police released footage of the suspect, who can be seen walking calmly down the street about the same time as the attack.
