QUEENS — A new affordable housing complex in downtown Jamaica, offering 46 apartments and numerous amenities, is now accepting applications, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz announced Tuesday.

The 9-story, energy-efficient Rufus King Court development, at 148-19 90th Ave., will offer apartments to families and individuals: studios are for individuals with an income range of $24,515 to $30,100; three-bedrooms are for families who make between $43,749 and $59,820, according to the borough president's office.

The apartments are also available to individuals as well. Further details about income ranges can be found on the application web site.

The building's amenities will include an outdoor recreation area, parking, indoor bicycle storage, a community room and laundry room. The complex will also have air conditioning in each unit and a surveillance system.

Monthly rents for the apartments will range from $659 for a studio to $1,199 for a three-bedroom.

The building, which is scheduled to be completed later this year, will also have rooftop solar panels that will produce up to 50 percent of the electricity used in the building’s common areas.

“Rufus King Court Apartments will offer quality affordable housing at a location near the Jamaica commercial core just a few blocks from one of the nation's busiest transportation hubs,” Katz said in a statement.

According to Katz, the developer will also arrange for social services to be provided to senior residents.

Applications are being accepted online (go to www.nyc.gov/housingconnect and select “Apply for Housing") and via mail until March 6. A mail application can be requested by sending a self-addressed envelope to Rufus King Court Apartments, P.O. Box 390, Floral Park, NY 11002. A lottery will determine the winning applications.
