LONG ISLAND CITY — A new hotel in Long Island City built in a renovated former paper factory has maintained some of its industrial past.

The Paper Factory Hotel opened Dec. 20 at 37-06 36th St., and has incorporated some relics from the site's previous use into its new design, like an antique printing machine, according to its website and Facebook page.

"We have preserved its intricate machines and interspersed them in our space, keeping alive the roots of our hotel and the stories it brings with it," a description on the hotel's website reads. "As we were designing our brand concept, we wished to hold on to the charm of this industrial age."

The 5-story building, located off of Northern Boulevard, has 122 rooms as well as meeting and event spaces, with rates starting around $159 a night for a room with a queen-size bed. The hotel also offers dormitory-style lodgings for groups of up to 12 people.

The hotel has a cafe in its lobby and is planning to add a restaurant and bar as well as a fitness center soon, according to its website.
