EAST VILLAGE — Police are searching for a man whose failed attempt to rob an East Village bank had him fleeing the scene without any cash, according to police.
The suspect entered the Chase Bank on the Bowery near East 1st Street on Dec. 30 just after noon, where he handed a note to a teller and demanded money, police said. Before any cash was handed over, the suspect fled the bank along East 1st Street. No physical injuries were reported, police said.
The suspect is described by police as 28 to 30 years old, 5-foot-10 with a thin build and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black skull cap, red hood sweatshirt, a message bag and holding a DVD, the NYPD said.
