BROOKLYN — A Williamsburg man was in serious condition from burns suffered during an apartment fire Thursday afternoon, the FDNY said.

The blaze broke out at the four-story apartment building at 256 Heyward St. about 12:45 p.m., FDNY officials said.

Twelve fire trucks and 60 firefighters brought the fire under control by 1:12 p.m., FDNY said.

Witnesses saw the man being carried to an ambulance with burns to his stomach. Paramedics transported the unidentified man to New York Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, an FDNY spokesperson added.
