WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A McDonald's worker was freed by firefighters after getting his finger stuck in a french fry machine at one of the fast-food chain's eateries in Washington Heights Thursday morning, authorities and staff said.

The incident took place about 9:30 a.m. at the McDonald's at 4040 Broadway and 170th Street, the FDNY said. The store's manager said the employee had been cleaning the machine when his finger became trapped inside.

"His finger got stuck in the filter," said the manager, who declined to give her name.

Firefighters freed the man, who was uninjured and did not need to be taken to a hospital, officials said.
