NEW YORK CITY — Three pedestrians and a motorcyclist were killed around the city — including one in a hit-and-run accident — over the course of a few hours Saturday night, authorities said.
In one of the horrific crashes, a motorcyclist struck an elderly woman at 4:36 p.m. on Queens Boulevard near 58th Street, killing them both, police said.
Officers responding to calls of a person struck at the Woodside intersection found that the biker had struck an older woman, 78, who was crossing at 58th Street, police said.
Darien Baker, 31, of Yonkers, had been driving a white 2013 Suzuki motorcycle headed westbound on Queens Boulevard when his motorcycle crashed into an unidentified older woman, police said. Both were rushed to Elmhurst General Hospital and declared dead, police said.
A hit-and-run left another pedestrian struck with fatal injuries a few hours later in Crown Heights Brooklyn, when a 51-year-old man was struck while crossing Eastern Parkway near Buffalo Avenue, police said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was struck at 9:37 p.m. and found unresponsive by police at the Crown Heights scene. He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital and declared dead on arrival.
Investigators discovered that a black, 4-door sedan hit him while heading west on Eastern Parkway, but the driver fled the scene before police arrived, the NYPD said. No arrests had been made as of Sunday morning, police said.
Then shortly after midnight, Darrell Carter, 49, from Melrose, was crossing the Major Deegan Expressway when he was struck by an oncoming car near Exit 5, police said.
Carter was struck at 12:27 a.m. by a southbound Toyota Rav 4 that stayed on the scene, police said.
