FORT WADSWORTH — An overturned vehicle closed the upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge for more than an hour Monday morning, a spokeswoman for the MTA said.

The MTA received the report of a two car accident on the Brooklyn-bound upper level of the bridge around 10 a.m.

The accident initially shut down traffic on both sides of the bridge, then the Brooklyn-bound side for more than an hour as workers cleaned up the overturned vehicle.

The Brooklyn-bound side was reopened by 11:09 a.m., the MTA said.

The driver of the overturned car was taken to Lutheran Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and put under arrest shortly after, the MTA said.

Police could not immediately confirm the arrest.
