BROOKLYN — A pair of con artists tricked an elderly woman into giving them $1,500 by pretending to be police and telling her that her grandson was under arrest and in need of bail money, the NYPD said.

The 78-year-old victim received a phone call from a man claiming to be a police officer on Sept. 5. He told the woman that her grandson needed to money for bail and asked her to wire the money via Western Union to David’s Check Cashing on 581 Sutter Ave. in East New York, police said.

Police released a video Monday of the suspect’s accomplice, a woman with long dark hair, walking into the check cashing business and picking up the money.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-577-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
