GREENWICH VILLAGE — A  man was caught hiding stolen items under the seat of a police car after he was arrested for taking a cellphone from an unconscious man, the NYPD said.

Police spotted 38-year-old Khalid Herdigein rifling through the pockets of a passed out man at the corner of Barrow and West Fourth streets at about 2:25 a.m. on Nov. 2, police said.

Police saw Herdigein, who was sitting next to the victim, pull a cellphone from the man's pocket and set it on the ground, according to the police report.

After Herdigein was arrested and taken to the 6th Precinct stationhouse in a patrol car, police searched the car and found he had hidden four additional stolen items under the backseat, according to a police report.

It wasn’t immediately clear which items were hidden in the car, but prosecutors said Herdigein was found with stolen debit and credit cards, plus a wallet and a cellphone that did not belong to him.

Herdigein was charged with two counts of grand larceny and is due back in court Thursday.

His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
