UPPER EAST SIDE Two hammer-wielding men stole $15,000 worth of baubles from a Madison Avenue jewelry store before being chased off by an employee, police said.

A man, dressed in a black jacket and ski hat, rang the doorbell at Travers Fine Jewelry near East 76th Street about 4:30 p.m. Saturday and held open the door for a second suspect, according to the official report.

The second man, dressed in a grey hooded sweatshirt, entered the store and yelled "Don't Move!" police said.

In a surveillance video, the first man is then seen holding a large hammer and fighting with a store employee near the doorway.

The second man smashes a display case with another hammer and hastily removes items, the video shows.

After a few seconds, both suspects were chased out of the store by a second employee, who came running at them wielding a wooden chair above his head.
