PARK SLOPE — The hit of the Park Slope Halloween parade wasn't even wearing a costume.
Mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio marched in the procession outfitted in a suit and tie, but was greeted with more cheers than the parade's 30-foot pirate ship.
De Blasio, who lives on 11th Street and Sixth Avenue, waded with his wife Chirlane McCray into a sea of camera flashes and hugs as the couple made their way down Seventh Avenue.
Some parade watchers shouted "Bill!"and "The mayor!" but not everyone seemed to know who he was. "That's the future mayor," said one on-looker. "Which one?" responded his friend. "The tall guy."
De Blasio enjoys a 45-point lead over his Republican opponent Joe Lhota in the mayor's race, polls show.
The candidate, who once represented Park Slope on the City Council, joined thousands of his neighbors for the parade which featured giant puppets and a team of bagpipers, one of whom was dressed as a Harlem Globetrotter.
EMTs with Park Slope Volunteer Ambulance Corps handed out candy along the route to beaming kids dressed in Spiderman and fairy princess get-ups.
Also on hand was City Councilman Brad Lander, costumed as American poet Walt Whitman, complete with leaves of grass dangling from his shoulders.
The annual parade, which was started in 1987, is a fundraiser for the Park Slope Civic Council.
