MIDTOWN — Hudson Heights' Buunni Coffee is ready for the holidays.

The uptown java joint is sharing its signature brand of Ethopian-sourced coffee downtown for the holiday season, as the store sets up shop at the Bryant Park Holiday Market.

Beginning Friday and continuing through Jan. 5, Buunni's husband-and-wife team of Elias Gurmu and Sarina Prabasi will be on hand to sell fair-trade coffee beans to holiday shoppers.

In addition to coffee beans, Buunni's booth — which will be located at the north end of the park near 42nd Street and 6th Avenuewill sell pottery by uptown artist Michael Anzalone, handmade toys by Doctor SuperHelga, as well as Ethiopian scarves and jewelry that has been repurposed from artillery.

The holiday market store opening is a big step for the shop, Prabasi said, noting that it had only been a year since Buunni opened its main cafe at 213 Pinehurst Ave. in Hudson Heights.

"The response from the community has just been really amazing," said Prabasi.

Beyond the holiday market, Prabasi said that Buunni is looking to expand, either to a second location in Washington Heights or Inwood or finding new wholesale partners, cafes or restaurants to carry its coffee blends.
