ELTINGVILLE — Four children were hurt when a pickup truck hit a school bus, flipping it over Wednesday morning, officials said.

The children's bus headed south on Preson Avenue when the eastbound Nissan pickup truck slammed into it at Oakdale Street about 7:40 a.m., police sources said.

The kids, the bus matron, driver, along with two other people, were all rushed to Staten Island University Hospital. An FDNY spokesman said their conditions were serious.

"I heard a big bash and then I woke up," said Maria Marteala, who lives on Oakdale. "The bus had fallen to the side. Just to see people moving inside was a good sign."

Parents of those kids on board were notified of the crash, a DOE spokeswoman added.

Both vehicles remained on the scene and neither driver was immediately charged in the crash, a police spokeswoman said.

The NYPD was still investigating the crash.
