Service Changes to Disrupt 13 Subway Lines this Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Halloween may come early for weekend commuters as service changes to 13 lines could make getting around the city a terrifying ordeal.

Construction and maintenance work, including Sandy recovery work on Brooklyn’s Court Street, will bring changes to the 1, 7, A, C, D, E, F, G, N, Q, R lines, and two S shuttles.

Here’s the breakdown per line:

1 Train: There will be no 1 train service between 137th street and 242nd Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The line will operate between South Ferry and 137th Street.

Free shuttles will be available between 137th Street and 168th Street. For service between 168th Street and 191st Street, use the M3 bus or free shuttle buses.

Customers can transfer to the A train at Columbus Circle to get to Dyckman Street and 207th Street.

7 Train: Service will halted between Time Square-42nd and Queensboro Plaza from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Free shuttle buses will operate between Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza. Customers can take the E, F, N, and Q lines between Manhattan and Queens.

A Train: There will not be any service between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue from 5:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday. Trains will operate between Inwood-207th Street and Howard Beach-JFK Airport or Lefferts Boulevard.

Shuttles will run between Rockaway Park and Far Rockaway. There will be free around-the-clock shuttles between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and Far Rockaway via the Nassau Expressway. Customers may transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Howard Beach-JFK Airport, Far Rockaway or Rockaway Park. 

Brooklyn-bound trains will run local from 125th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. Also during that time, Brooklyn-bound trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street.

C and D Trains: Brooklyn-bound trains will run local from 145th Street to 59th Street Columbus Circle from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

E Train: Service will run local in both directions between Queens Plaza and Roosevelt Avenue from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

F Train: Coney Island-bound trains will be rerouted via M line from Roosevelt Avenue to 47th-50th streets from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. 

Jamaica-bound trains will run express from West 4th Street to 34th Street-Herald Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Also during that time, Coney Island-bound F Trains will skip 4th Avenue-9th Street, 15th Street-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway.

Additionally, Jamaica-bound trains will run local from 21st Street-Queensbridge to Roosevelt Avenue from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. Coney Island-bound trains will run local from Roosevelt Avenue to Queens Plaza during that time.

G Train: Church Street-bound trains will skip 4th Avenue-9th Street, 15th Street-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

N Train: There are no N trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Late night N service will be rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

Q Train: Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Kings Highway to Newkirk Plaza from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Also, service from Ditmars Boulevard will be extended Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. because of suspension to the 7 train.

R Train: There are no R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Weekend R service will be rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

S (42nd Street Shuttle): Trains will run between 12:02 a.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday because of service suspensions to the 7 Train.

S (Rockaway Park Shuttle): There will be no shuttle service between Broad Channel and Beach 90th Street from 5:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.
