MANHATTAN — The man who attempted to rape a New York University student in SoHo last Tuesday has been arrested, according to police.

Glenn Williams, 28, of Scarsdale was charged with attempted rape, robbery, sexual abuse and assault Wednesday after being arrested in Manhattan.

He was picked up after police spotted him using facial recognition technology, WNBC reported.

Williams snuck up behind the 20-year-old woman inside the lobby of her Thompson Street building, grabbed her in a choke hold and then attempted rape her early in the morning of Oct. 8, police said.

They said he then fled with her bag.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and treated for facial injuries, according to the NYPD.

Williams had previously been arrested for weapons possession and was released from prison in August.
