MANHATTAN — A man was shot in the chest at an Upper West Side intersection early Tuesday morning, police said.

Two men chased the man at about 12:30 a.m. into the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and West 88th Street, where he fell and they shot him, witnesses said.

A night clerk at a nearby deli, Shah Mohamed, 49, said he heard three shots.

Mohamed described his deli's security footage, which showed two attackers run north after the shooting.

"He got up, went across the street, got in a cab," Mohamed said.

He was treated at St. Luke's Hospital in critical but stable condition, the NYPD said.

A woman who lives nearby said she saw the men arguing outside a Papa John's pizzeria at the corner of 89th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.

They ran one block south, shot the man, and the attackers fled back north, said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

The shooter was not immediately arrested, and police said they were still investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
