Newborn Boy and Mother Found Dead in Brownsville Apartment

BROOKLYN — A newborn baby boy and his mother were found dead in their Brownsville apartment Thursday morning, police said.

Margarine Lyons, 34, and her 11-day-old son Preston Warren Alexander were discovered by a relative in the bedroom of their Legion Street home near Pitkin Avenue about 10 a.m., authorities said.

Lyons was declared dead at the scene and the boy was taken to Brookdale Hospital, but he could not be saved.

Neither displayed any signs of trauma, according to sources.

The case remains under investigation and the city medical examiner will determine cause of death, according to police.

Authorities would not say if there was any criminality involved.
