QUEENS — If you are shopping in the evening on Jamaica Avenue, look up, you might see yourself.

Images of Jamaica residents and visitors are being projected on the front of the Jamaica Center building as part of a campaign to liven up the neighborhood at night.

Approximately 100 photographs showing a mix of artists, entrepreneurs, residents, students and professionals who live and work in Jamaica are being beamed onto the building.

Four photograpers — Barron Claiborne, Delphine Diaw Diallo, Russell Frederick and Jamel Shabazz — took pictures of people engaged in various activities, including shopping and relaxing, according to the Jamaica Center Business Improvement District, which came up with the idea.

The project is part of the Queens Royalty campaign, which includes organizing concerts, art exhibits and late night events to encourage local stores to stay open later in the evening.

"We want to tell our community's positive story to the world,” said Felicia Tunnah, executive director of the Jamaica Center BID. “Queens Royalty is a celebration of Jamaica and its people."

The images will be projected on Oct. 9, 15, and 16 from 6:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m., on a wall above the Bally Fitness Center (Jamaica Center) on Jamaica Avenue between Parsons Boulevard and 160th Street.
