MIDTOWN — The biker likely paralyzed when he was crushed under the wheels of an SUV Sunday during a confrontation on the Henry Hudson Parkway between motorcyclists and the vehicle's driver was trying to calm the situation, his family's lawyer said Friday.

Edwin "Jay Meez" Mieses, 32, suffered a fractured spine, multiple broken ribs, a punctured lung and a torn aortic valve when Alexian Lien, 33, fearing for his life, drove over the cyclist while tried to flee the scene, the lawyers said.

A viral video caught the horrific clash as Lien, 33, hit the gas and ran over bikes with his black Range Rover on the highway near 125th Street with his wife and 2-year-old daughter inside — after cops say angry bikers slashed his tires in retaliation for Lien rear-ending one of their compatriots.

"The video shows that the SUV was standing still. Edwin Mieses was in front of that SUV with his back turned not engaging in any behavior that was threatening or inappropriate," his lawyer Gloria Allred said. "He was off his bike. His sole intention was to defuse the situation."

Lien struck two other motorcyclists while attempting to flee.

After Mieses was run over, Lien took off and the motorcyclists gave chase, the video shows. The SUV eventually exited the highway at 178th Street near St. Nicholas Avenue and got stuck in traffic.

Some motorcyclists then began to bash on the SUV's window, and Lien was pulled out of his vehicle and slashed in the face and beaten, police said.

Lien's family claimed he was acting in self-defense.

"Our fear for our lives was confirmed when the incident ended with the ruthless and brutal attack on my husband, me, and, most importantly, our 2-year-old child," Lien's wife, Rosalyn Ng, said Thursday.

Lien has not been charged in the incident.

Christopher Cruz, whose motorcycle was rear-ended by Lien when Cruz allegedly tried to slow traffic, was charged with reckless driving.

Rider Allen Edwards was charged by police, but the Manhattan District Attorney's office has declined to prosecute him at this point.

"I love him so much," Mieses; girlfriend of 17 years, Dayana Mejia, said. "It tears me up that anyone could think that Edwin in any way deserved what happened to him."
