BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A 71-year-old woman was mugged Thursday afternoon on the streets of Bed-Stuy by a man who put her in a chokehold and threw her to the ground, police said.

The woman was walking in front of 760 Macon St. at 2:30 p.m. when a man allegedly approached her from behind and choked her before grabbing her purse and throwing her to the ground, police said.

The alleged mugger — who police described as weighing about 200 pounds, in his 30s or 40s, with a long goatee — ran off with the woman's driver's license, keys, credit card, insurance card and Metrocard, police said.

The victim, who was not publicly identified, was taken to Kings County Hospital, where she was treated and released with minor injuries, police said.

Police said the attacker was last seen wearing a black tank top, black jeans and black sneakers.

There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
