BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK — A man who fell or jumped into the East River on Sunday morning was pulled out, but rescuers were unable to revive him, police said.

The man, who was not identified immediately, appeared to have fallen in at 9:40 a.m., police said. Rescuers discovered him unresponsive and unconscious in the water, police said.

The victim was brought to the Manhattan side of the river to Pier 16, and rescuers attempted to resuscitate him, to no avail, cops said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said there were no signs of trauma, but said an investigation was underway at the First Precinct.
