BROOKLYN — A man gave his girlfriend's daughters $8 to go buy fried chicken around the corner from their Bed-Stuy home and then fatally shot their mother Wednesday night, NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

The girls, aged 5 and 9, returned to their Chauncey Street home, near Rockaway Avenue, and found their mother, Sellis Gonzales, 44, lying dead on the floor about 8:40 p.m., cops said.

"They go and when they come back, the door is ajar and the woman is on the floor," Kelly said at a Wednesday press conference.

Eric McCormick, 40, shot Gonzales in the head and chest before fleeing the scene, cops said.

She was rushed to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
