QUEENS — A newly opened high-end barbecue restaurant in Jamaica, hoping to offer more than just ribs to its customers, is also introducing live music events to the dining experience.
This Saturday, CityRib, which opened on Parsons Blvd. in July, and is one of only two sit-down restaurants downtown Jamaica, is set to hold its first music concert.
The restaurant, which can seat up to 200 people, will focus on jazz, which has a rich history in the area, said Regan Uriarte, CityRib’s manager. The restaurant also features jazz as its background music.
The second event has been planned for Friday, Sept. 20, when a four piece jazz band featuring Renee Benot will perform.
"We want to bring excitement to the area and we want to give people a nice place to relax," said Uriarte. "There is nothing like that in this neighborhood."
Both events will start at 8 p.m. and will continue until 11 p.m.
Uriarte said if the concerts are well received, the restaurant will organize live music performances "at least once a month."
CityRib, which until now was open for dinner only, plus weekend brunch, will now be also serving lunch on Fridays, starting at 11:30 a.m.
CityRib is located at 89-04 Parsons Blvd. There will be no cover charge for music events. The restaurant will also be featuring drink specials during the events.
