WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A Washington Heights grocery store has reopened under new management after closing down for a week.

The Associated supermarket at 3871 Broadway near 162nd Street shut its doors abruptly on Aug. 19 and remained closed until Aug. 26, leaving residents to figure out where they should shop next.

"It was completely out of the blue," said Sheila Zukowsky, a 40-year resident at 152nd Street and Riverside Drive. "I went over there [on Aug. 19] and I thought they closed early. The next day someone told me that it was closed and went out of business."

Store employees told DNAinfo New York that the supermarket was closed while the store changed owners.

"That was a business thing," said the store manager, who identified himself only as Ben. "It's a new administration."
