NEW YORK CITY — A load of rocks spilled by a dump truck snarled Jersey-bound traffic at the Lincoln Tunnel Wednesday afternoon, closing the tube briefly and causing delays of at least 90 minutes leaving the city, officials said.

Maintenance crews from Port Authority and the New Jersey Turnpike were at work cleaning up the site of the spill, which occurred about 3 p.m. on the westbound helix, Port Authority Spokesman Steve Coleman said. Lanes reopen at 4 p.m, but residual delays remain, he said.
