BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Part of Tompkins Avenue will turn into an active pedestrian plaza on Saturday, as Bed-Stuy residents celebrate the diverse businesses on the commercial corridor for the fourth straight year.
The Tompkins Avenue Merchants Assocation, or TAMA, joins with Bridge Street Development Corporation annually to throw the TAMA Summerfest, which features music, food, art, games and more, between Hancock Street and Putnam Avenue on Tompkins.
Shops in attendance will include Common Grounds Cafe, the Meat Market vintage shop, the Bed-Stuy Pop Up Shop, Bed-Vyne Wine and Brew, Peaches Hothouse and more.
There will also be children's book readings, fashion shows and prizes, Bridge Street said.
Last week's event featured live music from hip-hop group IAMPOPULA, hard rock band Major Taylor and electronic rocker KREAUX.
On Saturday, IAMPOPULA returns, alongside indie rock band the Sunday Belts.
The final day of TAMA Summerfest takes place on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
