NEW YORK CITY — A wannabe iPhone thief was nabbed after a brief pursuit by two officers at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown on Thursday, police sources said.

The chase began at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, after Jahaid Turner, 19, tried to snatch an iPhone 4 from the hands of a 30-year-old man standing inside the bus terminal.

Turner fled outside to 40th Street after a struggle with the iPhone owner, but was trailed by Sgt. William Finney and Officer David Montalvo. The officers caught up with the suspect when he tried to re-enter the terminal at 40th Street and Eighth Avenue and were able to subdue him. Neither officer was injured in the incident.

Turner, who lives in Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery and resisting arrest. He has prior arrests on record for jumping a turnstile and assault, sources said.
