WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Dust off your runway shoes — Uptown Fashion Week is returning to Washington Heights.

The one-night celebration of fashion and culture is coming to the United Palace Sept. 14, and organizers are promising an even larger spectacle than last year.

"After the success of last year's event, which featured members of the MTV show 'Washington Heights,' the event is expected to be event bigger this year," organizers wrote on Facebook last week.

The event mimics the pageantry of the unrelated Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which runs from Sept. 5 to 12.

The uptown event was born out of frustration with the lack of fashion-related events in the neighborhood, said Uptown Fashion Week organizer Albania Rosario, who is planning the show with City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez.

"Fashion Week is one of the most amazing and important events to happen in New York City every year," Rosario told DNAinfo New York in February. "Yet nothing seems to be happening in [the] uptown community."

Hundreds of fashionistas showed up for Uptown Fashion Week's winter 2013 show, held on Feb. 14 at the Alianza Dominicana Triangle Building. The winter show featured the collections of 12 designers, including three from the New York City area.

Information on participating designers for the September show has not yet been released.

Tickets to Uptown Fashion Week will cost $20 per person. The United Palace is located at 4140 Broadway. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit http://www.uptownfashionweeknyc.com.
