QUEENS — Passing cars frightened a man who police say was trying to rape a woman on a Forest Hills street early Sunday morning.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, was on her way home. She was walking on Queens Bouelvard near 71st Road in Forest Hills about 4:00 a.m., one block from Austin Street, which is full of bars and restaurants.

The man followed her and attacked her in front of her residence, near a Key Food store, cops said.

He grabbed her from behind, forced her to the ground, sexually assaulted her and tried to rape her, according to cops.

But he ran away after being scared off by heavy traffic, as reported by The New York Post.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Police described the attacker as a 25- to 30-year-old man, weighting approximately 160 pounds and about 5-feet-10 tall.

He was wearing a red t-shirt, dark colored pants and a red baseball cap.
