PARK SLOPE — An iconic New York restaurant is opening a Park Slope location.

Grand Central Station's Oyster Bar is moving into the space formerly occupied by Fornino on Fifth Avenue and Carroll Street, an employee with the building's property management company confirmed Friday. The news was first reported by Gothamist.

It's not yet known exactly when the Oyster Bar will be taking over the space, which will first undergo a renovation, the property management employee said.

The Fifth Avenue restaurant is one of the most spacious in Park Slope. Actress Debi Mazar briefly considered opening an eatery there with her chef husband, but the deal fell through, reportedly because the "landlord tripled rent and wants McDonalds or Olive Garden," a miffed Mazar Tweeted.

The Oyster Bar, where tourists and New Yorkers alike flock for a taste of old New York, also has locations in Tokyo and Newark. Its menu includes an "overwhelming assortment" of mollusks, as well as "superlative pan roasts and clam chowders," according to New York magazine. It first opened inside Grand Central in 1913.
