MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — Amanda Bynes made a brief but bizarre showing in criminal court Tuesday morning, strutting past photographers in a long turquoise wig with bangs, oversized sunglasses and sweatpants.

Bynes, 27, who has a history of increasingly erratic behavior, was arrested in May after she allegedly threw a bong out the window of her 36th floor apartment in the swanky Biltmore apartments in Midtown while being questioned by police officers. She wore a long, unkempt blonde wig at her last court appearance, tweeting afterwards, "I need Nicki Minaj's wig person stat!"

Bynes has disputed the police account, claiming the officer fabricated the story after sexually assaulting her. The NYPD has said they were investigating her claims.

The troubled starlet was arrested and arraigned on charges of reckless endangerment and attempting to tamper with physical evidence, according to a criminal complaint. Each misdemeanor count carries a penalty of up to one year in jail.

Bynes stayed quiet during her brief appearance Tuesday morning in front of Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Diana Boyar, and was ordered to return to court Sept. 26, according to the Associated Press.

The court appearance came one day after the former Nickelodeon star came under fire for calling President Barack Obama and his wife ugly on her Twitter account. She fired off a series of tweets early Tuesday morning complaining about the appearance of her own nose.

Bynes' attorney, Gerald Shargel, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
