Cops Hunt Suspects in Shooting of Cop in East New York

EAST NEW YORK — Cops have released video footage showing two men wanted in connection to the shooting of a rookie NYPD officer on patrol in the Cypress Hills Houses July 4.

The first man was captured by surveillance cameras pointing a pistol at a man outside of 1260 Sutter Ave. about 10:40 p.m., cops said.

The second man was picked up on footage running into 485 Fountain Ave. about 10:45 p.m. that day, police said.

Officer Jamil Sarwar, 30, was shot in the leg as he responded to a call of shots fired inside the complex about 10:45 p.m., police said. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition and was released Friday afternoon.
