STATEN ISLAND — A baby store clerk was seriously hurt when two men came into his shop and beat him with a hammer, police said.

The clerk, whose identity was not immediately released, was inside Itsby Bitsy Baby, at 528 Forest Ave., when the two men entered about 12:40 p.m. on June 26, according to the NYPD.

The two attacked the 30-year-old clerk with a hammer before running from the scene, police said.

The attack left the victim swollen and with cuts all over his head and body, cops said.

Police do not know why the men attacked the clerk. They didn't take any money or make any comments to suggest motive, police said.

Both suspects, who are believed to be in their early 20s and about 6-feet tall, were last spotted with short black hair and white T-shirts, cops said.

Police said one suspect appeared to be about 160 pounds with the other about 40 pounds heavier.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
