MANHATTAN — A Washington Heights residential apartment building caught fire Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

No residents or firefighters were injured, according to the FDNY.

The fire began at 4:12 p.m. in a fourth floor apartment at 260 Audubon Ave., said officials. Twelve fire companies with 60 fire fighters responded, putting out the blaze by 4:43 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

Flames and large clouds of black smoke could be seen coming out of the apartment.

The cause of the fire, which was contained to one apartment unit, was under investigation, the spokesman said.

It was unknown if anyone was displaced, he said.
