12 Subway Lines Set to Undergo Weekend Service Changes

NEW YORK – Not counting the crowds headed for Saturday’s Mermaid Parade, planned construction work will affect travel times on 12 subway lines this weekend.

According to the MTA, changes will affect 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, F, G, J, M, N, Q and R train service. Notably, late night N and R train service will be suspended on Saturday and Sunday between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue in both directions.

Here’s what’s in store.

1 Train
From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 1 line service will be suspended between 14th Street and South Ferry because of Cortlandt Street reconstruction. Riders can instead take 2 and 3 trains, which will make local stops between 34 St.-Penn Station and Chambers Street in both directions, or use the free shuttle bus service making stops between Chambers Street and South Ferry.

2 Train
Because of construction on the 1 line, 2 trains in both directions will make local stops between 34th St.-Penn Station and Chambers Street stations on Saturday and Sunday.

3 Train
3 Trains will make local stops in both directions between 34th St.-Penn Station and Chambers Street on Saturday and Sunday because of construction on the 1 line.

4 Train
From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Crown Heights-bound 4 trains will make local stops between Grand Central-42nd St. and 14th St.-Union Square because of signal work at Union Square.

Also this weekend, Woodlawn-bound 4 trains will run express late nights between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 14th St.-Union Square because of rail work at Spring Street.

5 Train

Saturday and Sunday, Bowling Green-bound 5 trains will run local between 125th Street and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall because of signal work at Union Square. Dyre Avenue-bound 5 trains will run local between 14th St.-Union Square and 125th Street because of rail work at Spring Street.

6 Train

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will run express between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 14th St.-Union Square because of rail work at Spring Street.
 

7 Train

Flushing-bound trains on the 7 line will run express between Queensboro Plaza and Mets-Willits Point 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday because of construction for Flushing CBTC and track panel installation between 52nd Street and 61st Street-Woodside.
 

F Train

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-bound F trains will skip the 4th Avenue-9th Street, 15th Street-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway stations because of work on the Church Avenue interlocking.
Additionally, Coney Island-bound F trains will be rerouted via the M line between 36th Street in Queens and 47th-50th Streets because of station work at Lexington Avenue-63rd Street for the Second Avenue subway project.

G Train
Church Avenue-bound G trains will skip the 4th Avenue-9th Street, 15th Street-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway stations between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday because of work on the Church Avenue interlocking.

J Train
Jamaica Center-bound trains on the J line will run express from Myrtle Avenue to Broadway Junction between 3:45 a.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday because of track panel installation at Kosciusko Street.

M Train
Continuing until August, M trains will skip Central Avenue in both directions because of station rehabilitation work.

N Train
Late nights from Friday to Monday, N trains will be rerouted between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue via the Q line in both directions because of station painting and asbestos abatement in the Montague tube.

Q Train
From 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound Q trains will run express between Sheepshead Bay and Kings Highway because of track panel work at the Sheepshead Bay station.

R Train
Late nights Saturday and Sunday, R trains will be rerouted between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue via the Q line in both directions because of station painting and asbestos abatement in the Montague tube. As there will be no N or R service between Jay Street-MetroTech and City Hall, riders should take 4 train service to nearby stations.
