WILLIAMSBURG — Police are looking for a hammer-wielding thug who bludgeoned a man and snatched $1,500 from a Brooklyn gas station early Tuesday morning.

The robber struck the BP service station at 677 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg just before 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, clobbering one victim over the head with a hammer before making off with the contents of the station's cash register, according to the NYPD.

The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital, where he received eight stitches and eight staples. Officials could not confirm whether he was an employee of the gas station.

The suspect is a man in his 20s, last seen wearing a tan jacket, black pants and grey sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
