NEW YORK CITY — The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch from Friday morning through Saturday afternoon for Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and surrounding areas.

Forecasters said remnants of tropical system Andrea and a system approaching from the west will combine to bring between two and four inches rain starting Thursday night, with the heaviest rain expected Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

The warning extends to portions of Southern Connecticut and Northeast New Jersey, the National Weather Service said Thursday.
