CANARSIE — Police arrested a man in connection with the Canarsie home invasion that was thwarted by a fast-acting 10-year-old boy who grabbed one of the alleged robbers guns and it fired it at them.

Jayquan Straker, a 24-year-old who lives on the same street as the victims in Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with robbery. Straker and another man allegedly forced their way into the home after posing as FedEx deliverymen on June 4th about 5:15 p.m.

They ordered two teenagers inside the home not to move while they searched the apartment. But unbeknownst to the alleged invaders the boy and his mother were hiding in an upstairs room.

When one of the gunmen stuck the gun into the room where they were hiding the mother slammed the door closed, causing the him to drop the weapon.

The 10-year-old picked up the gun and fired at one of the burglars, who returned fire before fleeing.

No one was injured during shoot-out.

Police were still searching for the second suspect.
