NEW YORK — Students at a Brooklyn school were evacuated Wednesday afternoon due to a fire, authorities said.

Units responded to a call of a blaze on the third floor of P.S. 307 in Vinegar Hill at about 1:30 p.m., FDNY officials said.

Authorities said all students and staff were evacuated from the building at 209 York St., and the blaze was under control by 2:26 p.m.

Some students were relocated to P.S. 287, two blocks south on Navy Street, officials said. Others were waiting for their parents by the nearby Brooklyn Navy Yard wall and at Gold St Pharmacy on the corner of York and Gold Streets.

Parents arrived at the school to pick up children at 2 p.m., but many could not locate them.

"I am very upset because I just want to get my son out of here and I cannot find him," said Shante Waldren who has a 13-year-old son that attends P.S. 307.

Several other parents were seen searchig for their children in the immediate aftermath of the fire.

But Principal Roberta Davenport said that everything was under control.

"The kids know the procedure," she said. "Everyone is safe."

No one was injured, according to fire officials, and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
