PARK SLOPE — Home store Items of Interest debuts an inventory of designer furniture and accent pieces sourced from New York craftsmen at its grand opening in Park Slope on June 3.

The store and interior design studio will carry "eclectic options that can work in a country house or in a glass box condo on top of Columbus Circle," owner Susie Kurkowski told DNAinfo.com.

Next week the former lawyer turned interior designer fulfills her dream of opening a furniture store that also provides interior decorating services (paint selection, lighting plans, furniture layout) when she props open the doors at 60 Fifth Ave. in Park Slope.

"If you walk around Park Slope all you see are vintage clothing stores, so I'm glad to bring something different to the neighborhood," Kurkowski said about her new business, which was first reported by Racked NY.

The shop's high-concept home furnishings, such as a dining table that converts into a bookcase, are complimented with fine contemporary art. Among Kurkowski's favorites from the collection: a wire sculpture of a horse bust that makes a handsome mantle-piece, and New York-inspired prints by native artist Ronald Gehrmann.

Kurkowski devotes part of her store and design consultation service to children's rooms, for sustainable furnishings that "grow with your kids," Kurkowski added.

Items of Interest is slated to open Monday, June 3 at 60 Fifth Ave. It will be open 12 – 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday.
