HELL'S KITCHEN — Filming for the 2014 comedy "Birdman" will send clouds of smoke billowing over 43rd Street this weekend to simulate the aftermath of an explosion.

The movie, starring Michael Keaton, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts, will film on 43rd Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the city's Office of Emergency Management announced Friday.

Directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, "Birdman" follows a washed-up actor as he tries to reclaim the box-office glory he once had playing an iconic superhero, according to IMDB.com.

"Birdman" shot a scene in Times Square last week, which featured Keaton in a trench coat and jeans flying high above the street, suspended by a pair of ropes.

Police officers and firefighters will be on scene throughout this weekend's shoots, OEM said.
