QUEENS — Police were looking for a man Thursday suspected of firing the shots that killed 14-year-old D'aja Robinson as she rode a bus through Queens earlier this month.

Police named Kevin McClinton, 21, the suspect in the May 18 shooting, and asked for the public's help in finding him. McClinton allegedly used a .40 caliber handgun to fire a hail of nine bullets at a crowded Q6 bus on Sutphin Boulevard near Baisley Pond Park.

Robinson, a young honor student from South Jamaica, was riding the bus home from a friend's Sweet Sixteen party when a bullet struck her in the right temple, police said.

Police were investigating the shooting as gang-related, but sources said Robinson was not the intended target.

Thousands mourned Robinson at her funeral last week, including heartbroken friends and relatives who said they couldn't believe the bubbly teen, who loved to dance, was gone.

Police described McClinton as 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, with dreadlocks.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting tips to 274637(CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
