FORT GREENE — The first chain hotel could soon be bringing tourists to Fort Greene.

Choice Hotels is planning a new five-story, 32-room hotel along Park Avenue in the neighborhood, according to Brownstoner.

Three empty lots located one block from the Brooklyn Navy Yard and across the street from the Walt Whitman Public Houses might soon be home to a Comfort or Quality Inn. The plan is still in the works and is pending approval with the Department of Buildings.

"The building still needs DOB and financing approvals, and is not expected to break ground until next year," reported Brownstoner.

The front rooms will overlook the BQE.

The hotel, if approved, will be designed by Queens firm Michael Kang Architect and is expected to have a rooftop bar and lounge.
