QUEENS — Just in time for summer, 7-Eleven opened its first location in Jamaica.

The store, on Rockaway Boulevard, next to the Belt Parkway, will be located in the area with a number of hotels, including a Sleep Inn and a Howard Johnson, and near a Burger King and other fast-food restaurants.

The 2,356 square-foot store had its grand opening on Friday. It has a small parking lot and will serve an area that includes busy thoroughfares, including Rockaway Blvd. and the Belt Parkway.

“The site is strategically located for us,” said Margaret Chabris, a 7-Eleven spokeswoman.

The chain, known for Big Gulps and Slurpees as well as quick snacks like maple pancake sausages and corn dog rollers, said it is looking to open more locations in the borough. “We are looking for more sites in Jamaica, as well as the Queens area,” Chabris said.

There are currently 41 7-Elevens in the borough, Chabris said.
