NEW YORK — Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the shoreline of the Hudson River on Wednesday afternoon, about 20 blocks south of the George Washington Bridge, authorities said.

The NYPD Harbor Patrol removed the decomposing body of a woman from the water by the rocks at 158th Street and the Hudson River at about 1:13 p.m., officials said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
